Driving and buying tires in Pueblo

Pueblo is the ninth largest city in Colorado, lying at the confluence of the Arkansas River and Fountain Creek. Known as the “Steel City” for its large steel production industry, it’s not really significant for automobile or tire manufacturing. One of the most popular sights in the city is the Historic Arkansas River project — a beautiful riverwalk, a tribute to the devastating flood of 1921, and a great example of modern urban development.
Steel City is considered one of the most affordable to live in, thanks to its low real estate prices. Looking to save even more? Buy a fresh set of tires for your Pueblo ride on our website. United Tires features one of the largest cheap used and new tire inventories in the online world. Choose from over 60,000 high-quality tires that would be delivered to your Pueblo doorstep in no time. Submit your order before 12 p.m., and it will be shipped on the same business day. Did You know

Did you know that?..

Pueblo was named after an old trading post

The name of this city originates from the trading post El Pueblo, or Fort Pueblo. The history of the place dates back to 1842 when the small fort was established by traders, hunters, and trappers here, in Southern Colorado. Translated from Spanish, the word “pueblo” means “village”, or “town”. In the older days, the area consisted of four towns — Pueblo, South Pueblo, Central Pueblo, and Bessemer. Today they make up Pueblo as we know it.

Automotive Pueblo CO at a glance

Automotive Pueblo at a glance
Automotive Pueblo at a glance
As we mentioned before, Pueblo doesn’t host any automotive or tire manufacturing facilities, but its railroad history is rich. Steel City played a significant role in bringing the railroad to Colorado. (To know more about those glorious days, pop into the Pueblo Railway Museum located at 200 W B St.) Recently Pueblo has been proposed to become the southern terminus for Front Range Passenger Rail. If this initiative comes to life, the city would become a new connection point to Colorado Springs, Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, and Cheyenne. Sounds great, but you still prefer to travel on four wheels? Then make sure that your vehicle is equipped with a good set of tires, and have a happy journey!

Pueblo CO public transportation system

Steel City’s public transportation services are provided by Pueblo Transit. Convenient bus routes deliver the locals and city guests to Denver, Amarillo (Texas), Albuquerque (New Mexico), and of course, to the not-so-distant destinations. Amtrak railroad operator’s closest stop to Pueblo is located in La Junta. The Southwest Chief train connects the nearby places with LA, Chicago, Kansas City, and many other destinations. The city is served by Pueblo Memorial Airport, located to the east of the city.

Better streets: a part of the road repair initiative

Local government is implementing a $10 million initiative to repair and maintain Pueblo streets at the end of 2022. Roads across the city would be gradually repaired, with new asphalt overlay and other improvements. Keep an eye on the local traffic news to be up-to-date with the works.

Highways and State Routes

Interstate 25 and US Route 85 run through the north-south expressway through Steel City, and US Route 50, also running through Pueblo, heads east-west. The local roads are well-maintained and are a pleasure to drive. Buy a fresh set of highway tires to benefit the most from the perfect road surfaces and satisfactory speeds.

What tires do you need for Pueblo weather?

What tires do you need for Pueblo weather?
What tires do you need for Pueblo weather?
Located in the so-called “banana belt”, Pueblo is characterized by the non-typical weather for Colorado. It has a steppe climate with four distinct seasons, and its winters aren’t as severe as the state is known for. On the contrary, Steel City’s winters are mild, with rarely freezing temperatures. It doesn’t snow much here either. Puebloan summers are hot and dry, with average temperatures ranging between 90-100 degrees Fahrenheit. The precipitation level is very low.
Summing all these facts up, we can conclude that summer tires are the best driver’s choice for those Pueblo rides. They offer great handling of the vehicle on the hot road surface, don’t melt, and allow achieve higher speeds. Keep in mind though, that summer tires wear faster too, and a changeover is to be performed more often, in comparison to all-season rubber. And, if you’re often traveling to other places in Colorado, quality new or used all-season tires (or all-season Mud and Snow tires for winters) are your number-one choice.
